Senior Transportation Data Specialist (GIS)

Location: Washington, DC or New York Area; hybrid role with project work in the Washington, DC office

Salary: $81,147–$137,949 per year based on full-time employment

What you will do

• Analyze and visualize freight, passenger travel, traffic-flow, system performance, and probe transportation data.
• Conduct geospatial analysis of transportation networks using ESRI ArcGIS tools and applications.
• Build, run, and validate transportation models for safety, planning, policy analysis, scenario testing, performance measurement, and benefit–cost evaluation.
• Develop interactive dashboards, visualizations, technical reports, guidance, and other client deliverables.
• Support before-and-after studies, policy evaluations, long-range transportation plans, corridor studies, TIP prioritization, and transportation asset-management assessments.
• Collaborate directly with clients, senior staff, project teams, and internal and external subject-matter experts across multiple projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, transportation engineering, planning, or a related field.
• 5+ years of consulting experience in the transportation industry.
• Experience with complex transportation data analysis, statistical methods, visualization, and geospatial analysis.
• Proficiency with GIS tools, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Dashboards, Experience Builder, StoryMaps, or Survey123.
• Experience with scripting or coding in SAS, Python, or R; Excel macro development; and basic databases and SQL.
• Ability to work collaboratively with clients and project teams and manage a portfolio of projects.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in transportation engineering or systems engineering.
• Experience working with US DOT, TRB, state DOTs, MPOs, or other public-sector transportation agencies.
• Government consulting experience.
• Experience with Tableau or Power BI and transportation datasets such as RITIS NPMRDS, INRIX, or ATRI.
