Senior Scientist, Analytical Development - Stem Cell & Metabolomics (Stem Cell Biology)

Location: Onsite in South San Francisco, California, United States. The posting also lists Oceanside, California, as an available location. Relocation benefits are not offered.

Salary: $104,700–$194,400 per year, with a possible discretionary annual bonus.

What you will do

• Develop, validate, and execute physicochemical, immunochemical, and biological testing methods for cell therapy products.
• Culture and differentiate human pluripotent stem cells, including iPSCs and ESCs, into specific lineages.
• Design and execute real-time metabolic assays measuring oxygen consumption rate and extracellular acidification rate.
• Characterize mitochondrial function, membrane potential, fission and fusion dynamics, biogenesis, and reactive oxygen species production.
• Perform tracer-based metabolic flux experiments to analyze glucose, fatty acid, and amino acid utilization during cell fate transitions.
• Document experiments, draft SOPs, and present metabolic data to cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• PhD in Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Stem Cell Biology, or a related field; or a relevant master's degree with 3+ years of academic or industry experience.
• Hands-on bench research experience; at least 75% of the role is active laboratory work.
• Expertise in cellular metabolism, cellular energetics, mitochondrial function, or metabolic flux assays.
• Experience culturing, differentiating, and characterizing iPSCs, MSCs, or primary cells.
• Experience developing assays within a CMC and regulatory framework, including phase-appropriate validation and ICH guidelines.
• Familiarity with flow cytometry, qPCR/ddPCR, ELISA, and metabolic flux analyzers such as Seahorse.
