Machine Learning Engineer II (AI)

Location: New York, New York, United States; conditions also list Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Salary: $140,000–$180,000 base annually, plus annual incentive bonus and equity plans.

What you will do

• Design and develop agentic AI systems, including orchestration, context engineering, data access patterns, memory management, and tool utilization.
• Participate in the full ML lifecycle, from problem framing and data exploration through experimentation, deployment, monitoring, and optimization.
• Apply NLP, semantic search, retrieval, and RAG techniques to proprietary structured and unstructured financial datasets.
• Develop agents for report generation, deep research workflows, and natural-language interaction with financial data.
• Validate AI-generated outputs and evaluate agent performance against user needs.
• Collaborate with Data, Product, Design, Engineering, and ML Operations teams to build and maintain scalable production systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of hands-on industry experience with machine learning, NLP, and information retrieval systems.
• Experience designing, experimenting with, deploying, and maintaining production ML systems.
• Strong Python proficiency and sound software development practices.
• Experience with agent orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph or pydanticAI.
• Strong problem-solving, documentation, collaboration, communication, and adaptability skills.
