Principal AI Engineer (Agent Enablement and Platforms)

Location: Hybrid work from one of the designated Tech Market locations: Louisville, KY; Dallas, TX; or Washington, DC. Home or hybrid employees must maintain a dedicated workspace that protects member PHI/HIPAA information and meet minimum internet speeds of 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload.

Salary: $156,600–$215,400 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus incentive plan.

What you will do

• Lead platform engineering for AI developer tools and enablement capabilities used by enterprise engineering teams.
• Architect and deliver end-to-end solutions integrating AI, automation, and agents into software delivery and productivity workflows.
• Define technical requirements and mature AI use cases with leadership, engineers, product owners, and business partners.
• Provide technical strategy for enterprise AI chatbot product development and support rapid prototyping.
• Guide engineering strategy, code quality, artifact management, security, and architectural patterns for AI platforms.
• Mentor engineering staff and educate teams on AI technologies, best practices, and implementation approaches.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of hands-on software engineering experience, including 3 years in principal- or architect-level roles delivering enterprise-scale AI and full-stack solutions.
• Strong full-stack engineering capabilities with proficiency in .NET and Python, plus familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, or Angular.
• Deep experience with cloud infrastructure, APIs, Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
• Experience with platform engineering, developer tools, AI enablement, complex software delivery pipelines, DevOps, and CI/CD.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub, Artifactory, SonarQube, and Agile team environments.
• Experience mentoring and developing engineering teams and collaborating across multiple teams to deliver AI solutions.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience architecting and delivering AI-powered products and developer platforms.
• Hands-on experience with prompt engineering, large language models, GitOps, rapid prototyping, and operational processes for large-scale internal customers.
