Manufacturing Engineer - Driveline 2nd Shift

Location: Onsite in Wyoming, Michigan, supporting driveline assembly operations in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Full-time onsite attendance is required. Relocation benefits may be available for eligible candidates.

What you will do

• Support daily manufacturing engineering needs for driveline assembly, including equipment, process, tooling, quality, and material-flow troubleshooting.
• Lead structured, data-driven root cause analysis for safety, quality, downtime, and throughput losses.
• Develop, implement, and improve assembly processes focused on safety, quality, delivery, cost, ergonomics, scrap reduction, cycle time, and OEE.
• Lead equipment and process changes through specification, trials, validation, implementation, and startup support.
• Collaborate with production, maintenance, quality, controls, materials, and launch teams on manufacturing solutions.
• Maintain process documentation, work instructions, PFMEA inputs, control plans, and standardized manufacturing practices while supporting product and model-year changes.

Requirements

• Ability to work onsite full time in Wyoming, Michigan, and support operations in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
• At least 3 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, process engineering, or a related production environment.
• Experience with assembly operations, automated manufacturing systems, or high-volume production processes.
• Knowledge of manufacturing safety, quality systems, process control, continuous improvement, and data-driven problem solving.
• Strong technical ownership, communication, collaboration, judgment, and ability to influence cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work overtime as required and balance urgent floor support with long-term process improvement.

Nice to have

• Experience with driveline, powertrain, transmission, axle, or other complex mechanical assembly environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial, or electrical engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience with launch support, equipment integration, process validation, PLC-controlled equipment, or automation interfaces.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing, standardized work, PFMEA, control plans, error-proofing, statistical tools, data visualization, and manufacturing performance metrics.
