TL;DR

Team Lead Backend Developer (Node.js): Leading a backend team in building and scaling complex systems for fintech and iGaming products with an accent on architectural integrity, high-load service optimization, and technical mentorship. Focus on hands-on development, implementing robust microservices, and driving engineering excellence in an onsite environment.

Location: Must be based in or be able to relocate to Lisbon, Portugal (On-site role)

What you will do

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of backend engineers through performance evaluations and development plans.
  • Actively write, review, and refactor code to ensure system performance and high quality.
  • Design technical solutions and make core architectural decisions for system enhancements.
  • Drive agile best practices and collaborate on company-wide engineering initiatives.
  • Resolve technical debt and optimize database and system flows.
  • Balance team workloads to ensure timely release delivery.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional backend development experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in leadership positions.
  • Node.js proficiency and experience with modern web development.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, microservices, SQL, and NoSQL databases.
  • English: B2/Upper-intermediate or higher required.
  • Ability to work on-site in Lisbon, Portugal.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with CI/CD and test-driven development.
  • Experience with message brokers and 3rd party integrations.
