TL;DR

Java Software Engineer (Backend): Developing and maintaining backend services for various clients with an accent on Java, SQL, and distributed data technologies. Focus on implementing microservices architecture, optimizing ETL processes, and ensuring high code quality through TDD/BDD.

Location: Hybrid (Porto). Must be based in Portugal and have EU citizenship or a valid Portuguese work permit.

What you will do

  • Develop robust backend services using Java.
  • Work with relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase) and integrate NoSQL solutions.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Git, Jenkins, and Bitbucket.
  • Design and execute automated tests following TDD and BDD methodologies.
  • Build and optimize ETL processes and microservices architectures.
  • Manage the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) from analysis to deployment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in Java backend development.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and relational databases.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools and the full SDLC.
  • English: B2 level or above required.
  • Location: Must be based in Portugal with EU citizenship or a valid Portuguese work permit.

Nice to have

  • Fluency in French (B2 level or above).
  • Experience with distributed data technologies like Hadoop, HDFS, Hive, or Kafka.
  • Familiarity with orchestration tools such as Control-M and Airflow.
  • Knowledge of functional programming.
  • Prior experience working within the financial domain.
