TL;DR
Principal AI Engineer (AI/.NET/React): Set the technical direction for AI capabilities in an enterprise document automation platform, delivering production AI features with an accent on LLM orchestration, retrieval, evaluation, security, and scalable .NET and React engineering. Focus on designing trustworthy AI systems, integrating agentic workflows into the SDLC, and building CI/CD, observability, and governance practices for regulated legal and compliance workloads.
Location: Remote in the UK, with optional in-person collaboration sessions.

What you will do
- Own the AI architecture and technical roadmap for the HotDocs document automation platform.
- Design, implement, and ship AI-powered enterprise features from prototype to production using .NET Core and React.
- Lead adoption of coding assistants, agentic workflows, test generation, code review, and documentation across the software development lifecycle.
- Build evaluation harnesses, guardrails, observability, governance, and cost and latency controls for trustworthy AI.
- Extend CI/CD pipelines for AI workloads, including prompt and model versioning, automated evaluation gates, monitoring, and cost tracking.
- Mentor engineers and collaborate with product, architecture, security, DevOps, and customer-facing teams on AI strategy and delivery.
Requirements
- 12+ years of professional software development experience, including principal, lead, or staff-level technical leadership.
- Strong hands-on experience with .NET Core, C#, React, and TypeScript or similar SPA frameworks.
- Production experience with AI solutions, including LLM integration, prompt engineering, RAG, MCP, agentic systems, and tool calling.
- Experience with Azure OpenAI or equivalent cloud AI platforms, Semantic Kernel, REST APIs, Entity Framework, and Azure SQL or SQL Server.
- Experience evaluating AI quality through test sets, benchmarking, human review loops, and non-deterministic behavior analysis.
- Knowledge of secure web application development, prompt injection, sensitive data protection, Git workflows, CI/CD, and agile collaboration.
Nice to have
- Experience with SLMs, fine-tuning, CAG, vector databases, AI observability, multi-agent systems, or AI/ML pipelines.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Add-ins, .NET Framework, WPF, OAuth, SSO, Redis, Linux, Docker, and PowerShell.
- Experience with performance tuning, application diagnostics, infrastructure as code, or automation tooling.
- Background in enterprise SaaS or compliance-heavy domains, especially legaltech, fintech, document, contract, or natural-language workloads.
