Senior Machine Learning & AI Engineer - Consumer Data Science

Location: Bristol, Chester, or Manchester, UK; hybrid working requires at least two days per week or 40% of working time at an office site.

Salary: £72,702–£80,780 per year.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain production machine learning and AI applications in Python.
• Take machine learning and AI solutions from experimentation through live production.
• Design integrations with cloud platforms, APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring tools.
• Implement MLOps practices for monitoring and operationalising large-scale models.
• Influence technical decisions, engineering standards, architecture, and team practices.
• Collaborate with platform, architecture, governance, risk, data science, engineering, and business teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience delivering software solutions across the full development lifecycle.
• Advanced software engineering knowledge, including design patterns, automated testing, CI/CD, and production deployments.
• Strong commercial Python experience with Pandas, Scikit-Learn, and XGBoost.
• Experience with cloud machine learning and data platforms such as Vertex AI, BigQuery, or Cloud Run.
• Practical experience with MLOps frameworks such as Kubeflow Pipelines or dbt.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes, API authentication, and distributed systems in enterprise environments.

Nice to have

• Experience with generative AI and agentic AI frameworks such as LangChain or ADK.
• Experience configuring and optimising large language models while balancing performance, risk, and cost.
• Knowledge of retail banking, lending products, or regulated financial services.
