Founding Software Engineer (Applied AI)

Location: London, onsite; approximately one week of customer deployment travel per month.

Salary: £120,000–£150,000 base salary per year plus founding equity.

What you will do

• Build production-grade backend systems using Python and TypeScript.
• Develop event-driven infrastructure for real-time operational workflows.
• Own cloud infrastructure, deployments, observability, and production reliability.
• Apply ML and AI to coordination and decision-making problems.
• Turn fragmented customer data into reliable operational intelligence.
• Take projects from ambiguous problems through architecture, implementation, testing, and production deployment while working with founders and customers.

Requirements

• Approximately 2–3 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on ability with Python and/or TypeScript.
• Experience building backend services, infrastructure, deployment systems, or applied ML products.
• Evidence of shipping software to production and operating it safely.
• Strong engineering fundamentals, critical thinking, and comfort solving unfamiliar problems.
• Ability to balance backend development, deployments, and live customer feedback while communicating with technical and operational stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Applied AI, customer-facing infrastructure, or forward-deployed engineering experience.
• Strong academic background or experience in a high-calibre engineering organisation.
