Software Engineer

Location: Amsterdam, The Netherlands; hybrid work with two office days per week. Three remaining working days may be completed in the office or from home. Limited work from the home country and abroad is available for a set number of days each year.

What you will do

• Design and implement scalable data pipelines, backend services, and cloud infrastructure.
• Develop and maintain reliable, high-quality platform components for mapmaking products.
• Collaborate with data producers, consumers, and cross-functional engineering teams to integrate features and services.
• Write clean, well-tested code and participate in code reviews.
• Monitor and troubleshoot production systems while learning to diagnose and resolve incidents.
• Apply software engineering practices including version control, CI/CD, testing, and documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; recent graduates are welcome.
• Hands-on experience from internships, coursework, or personal projects.
• Working knowledge of Python, Java, Scala, or another programming language.
• Understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and testing.
• Basic familiarity with Git and willingness to learn Docker and Kubernetes.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, curiosity, and eagerness to grow through mentorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with production software systems.
• Exposure to data engineering concepts, including pipelines, data quality, and structured data at scale.
