What you will do

• Lead the architecture, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of enterprise-scale back-end applications and e-services.
• Guide developers through technical planning, code reviews, coding standards, sprint planning, resource allocation, and delivery milestones.
• Design and oversee RESTful APIs, web services, database integrations, and compatibility across interdependent technologies.
• Optimize applications for performance, scalability, data integrity, security, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with Functional Analysts, QA, Front-End Developers, project managers, customers, and other stakeholders.
• Drive automated testing, performance profiling, framework improvements, and continuous engineering improvement.

Requirements

• University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related computing discipline.
• At least 10 years of progressive Java development experience with enterprise-scale web applications.
• At least 2 years of technical leadership, team lead, or formal software engineering mentorship experience.
• Expertise in Java/J2EE, Spring Framework, Hibernate, relational databases, transactional management, query optimization, and web-service architectures.
• Knowledge of SOLID principles, enterprise design patterns, layered and hexagonal architecture, Domain-Driven Design, Git, Maven or Gradle, JUnit, and Mockito.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills; ability to work in a hybrid setup in Krakow, Poland.

Nice to have

• Public-sector, government systems, ERP, GRP, IFMIS, or large-scale financial application experience.
• Microservices, cloud-native environments, Docker, and Kubernetes experience.
• Agile/Scrum experience and contributions to product modernization or platform evolution.
• Hands-on experience with relevant AI tools and technologies.
• Ability to travel occasionally.
