Software Engineer II, End User Protection (Auth0) (Cybersecurity)

Location: Hybrid in Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Salary: CAD 110,000–151,800 annually, plus equity where applicable, bonus, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and build attack protection features using Node.js, JavaScript or TypeScript, cloud platforms, databases, and Kubernetes.
• Break down complex requirements into modular engineering tasks and contribute to estimation, risk management, and technical trade-offs.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Security, Infrastructure, and Machine Learning and AI teams.
• Implement identity protocols and open standards such as OpenID Connect, OAuth, and SAML.
• Maintain and operate highly reliable services at large scale, including scheduled on-call rotations.
• Promote technical excellence, collaborative ownership, and effective engineering practices.

Requirements

• Practical experience with Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, or a similar programming language.
• Experience designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
• Understanding of application security and cloud security best practices.
• Experience with cloud environments, preferably AWS and Azure.
• Track record of influencing engineering strategy and delivering complex, multi-quarter projects across organizational boundaries.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and ownership skills in a remote-working environment.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of OAuth, OpenID Connect, and SAML.
• Experience in security engineering and application security.
• Understanding of architecture principles across infrastructure, security, data, integration, and application layers.
