Software Development Engineer I (Early Career)

Location: Onsite in Kent, Washington, within the Greater Seattle Area; applicants must be authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Salary: $110,623–$154,871.85 base pay for Washington applicants; ranges may differ by site.

What you will do

• Contribute to the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, and maintenance.
• Develop software supporting vehicle development, testing, and operations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to understand needs and design effective solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software issues across server-side and client-side systems.
• Work on applied systems analysis, software testing, quality assurance, DevOps, or data analysis depending on team placement.

Requirements

• Earned or pursuing a BS degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field within the last year, with availability to start by Fall 2026.
• Experience with a modern object-oriented programming language such as Java, C#, C++, or Python.
• Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and efficient software development.
• Experience using source control, such as Git, and relevant internship, co-op, research, coursework, or hands-on development experience.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively on rapid development programs.
• Must satisfy U.S. export control employment requirements and complete the required background check.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with AWS, on-premises or cloud infrastructure, Docker, or Kubernetes.
• Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or React.
• Experience developing real-time embedded systems, vehicle or industrial control systems, gaming systems, device drivers, or mobile applications.
