TL;DR
VP-level Senior Java Developer / Technical Lead (Java): Designing and developing enterprise-grade server-side Java applications for market data and trading platforms with an accent on technical leadership, architecture, scalability, and operational resilience. Focus on building low-latency systems, solving concurrency and integration challenges, and maintaining highly available business-critical applications.
Location: New York City, hybrid with at least 4 days onsite per week. U.S. work authorization is required; visa sponsorship is not available.
Salary: USD $150,000–$180,000

What you will do
- Design and develop enterprise-grade Java applications supporting market data and electronic trading platforms.
- Lead architecture, solution design, implementation, delivery planning, and technical estimates.
- Mentor developers through code reviews, design discussions, and engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with traders, quantitative analysts, product teams, risk specialists, and technology stakeholders.
- Drive software engineering standards across testing, CI/CD, release readiness, security, and production stability.
- Support and continuously improve highly available, business-critical trading applications throughout the full delivery lifecycle.
Requirements
- 10–15 years of software development experience, preferably in financial services or capital markets.
- Strong hands-on expertise in Core Java, JDK 11/17, Spring, and Spring Boot.
- Experience with Apache Camel, REST APIs, JMS/ActiveMQ, enterprise authentication, and relational databases such as MS SQL Server or Sybase.
- Strong background in enterprise application architecture, production support, technical delivery leadership, and developer mentoring.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or Quantitative Finance.
- Ability to work in New York City in a hybrid arrangement with at least 4 onsite days per week and existing U.S. work authorization.
Nice to have
- Experience with low-latency, high-throughput trading applications, asynchronous programming, event-driven systems, and concurrency.
- Knowledge of monitoring, application state management, production observability, Kafka, OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker, or Ansible.
- Experience integrating Bloomberg or Murex and knowledge of derivatives, market data, and electronic trading workflows.
- Experience working with U.S.-based product and technology teams.
