What you will do
- Own dispute automation features end-to-end, including deadline tracking, evidence collection, and response templates.
- Extend dispute lifecycle coverage to additional payment service providers.
- Build components of the rules and signals engine, including velocity rules, blocklists, and device fingerprinting.
- Improve integrations with fraud vendors and help merchants compare and switch between providers.
- Write RFCs and ADRs, make architecture decisions, and work independently with Product and Engineering Management.
- Contribute to backend systems and, where needed, the frontend Dispute Management dashboard.
Requirements
- Recent experience shipping production-ready backend or full-stack software independently from scoping through rollout.
- Ability to write RFCs and make architecture decisions with minimal senior oversight.
- Willingness to transition to Python without previous Python experience.
- Strong testing, observability, and security practices.
- The role involves working in an early-stage team environment with substantial ambiguity and ownership.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of card scheme rules, chargeback workflows, or fraud vendor integrations.
- Experience with webhook-based event systems, rules engines, or orchestration platforms.
