TL;DR
Platform Engineer (Kubernetes): Building and operating cloud infrastructure, platform services, and backend tooling that support ’s microservices with an accent on Kubernetes, AWS, GCP, Terraform, and developer experience. Focus on designing self-service infrastructure abstractions, managing distributed systems, and solving complex scalability, reliability, migration, and security challenges.
Location: Cardiff, London, or remote within the UK; occasional meetings in London may be required, with travel costs supported for engineers based outside London.
Salary: £65,000–£80,000 base salary, plus performance-linked incentive awards.

What you will do
- Build and maintain foundational platform tools and cloud infrastructure for ’s engineering teams.
- Operate Kubernetes clusters, AWS and GCP infrastructure, service mesh components, and networking systems.
- Manage infrastructure as code with Terraform and integrate open-source platform components.
- Design and implement backend services, APIs, and controllers that provide simplified self-service infrastructure.
- Develop solutions for infrastructure migrations, high-scale traffic management, security tooling, reliability, and performance.
- Collaborate with platform teams to abstract cloud complexity and improve developer experience.
Requirements
- Practical software engineering experience, including writing, testing, and deploying robust backend services.
- Interest or experience in AWS and/or GCP and Kubernetes.
- Experience with automation and infrastructure as code, such as Terraform.
- Ability to investigate complex system issues and understand how distributed applications fail and scale.
- Interest in building reliable, performant platforms that enable other engineers to work effectively.
- Must be based in the UK for remote work and able to attend occasional meetings in London.
Nice to have
- Direct experience with Go, Kubernetes, AWS, GCP, Terraform, or Envoy Proxy.
- Experience with infrastructure migrations, high-scale traffic management, or security tooling.
