Platform Engineer (Kubernetes/Terraform)

TL;DR

Platform Engineer (Kubernetes/Terraform): Building and evolving the internal platform that enables engineers to ship, operate, and scale financial products with an accent on cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, and security. Focus on designing paved infrastructure paths, improving production reliability, integrating AI into engineering workflows, and meeting financial-services compliance requirements.

Location: Hybrid in London, with three office days and two work-from-home days per week.

What you will do

• Contribute to Google Cloud infrastructure across Kubernetes, serverless services, and Terraform.
• Build paved paths and platform services that help engineering teams choose and use infrastructure effectively.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, including build speed, deployment safety, and failure visibility.
• Develop monitoring, diagnostics, alerting, observability, and SLO practices so teams can operate their own services.
• Collaborate with product engineering, security, risk, compliance, and data teams to design scalable platform capabilities.
• Deploy, monitor, and maintain production systems while taking ownership of platform areas.

Requirements

• Experience building, shipping, and operating production backend services.
• Hands-on experience with a major cloud provider and Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform.
• Experience deploying to Kubernetes, serverless environments, or both.
• Practical experience fixing, optimizing, or owning CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to script with JavaScript, Python, or a similar language and automate repetitive work.
• Critical, practical use of AI tools and the ability to assess their limitations; ML expertise is not required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Interest in investing or financial services.
