Technical Engineering Director (AI)

Location: Hybrid work from the offices in San Sebastian, Spain. Work visa sponsorship and a relocation package are available if applicable.

What you will do

• Drive technical scoping, execution, and delivery of end-to-end customer engagements.
• Identify opportunities to turn client-driven innovations into intellectual property and scalable products.
• Build, recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performance engineering organization.
• Allocate talent across projects, balance workloads, and optimize delivery capacity.
• Act as a technical authority and customer-facing advisor in machine learning, LLMs, and quantum computing.
• Coordinate with other directors and represent the department in strategic customer relationships.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or PhD in Machine Learning, Physics, Computer Science, or a related STEM field.
• At least 3 years of industry experience delivering applied machine learning solutions, especially in NLP, LLMs, or deep learning.
• At least 2 years of project management experience with hands-on responsibility for end-to-end client engagements.
• Experience managing teams, ideally including managers and multi-project pipelines.
• Professional experience with Python and applied machine learning frameworks.
• Ability to collaborate across diverse, distributed technical and non-technical teams.

Nice to have

• Experience turning prototypes into products with Product and Platform teams.
• Experience serving as a customer point of contact and presenting to C-level stakeholders.
• Experience managing project plans, budgets, milestones, and complex delivery programs.
• Familiarity with quantum computing or enterprise-scale AI deployment.
