Associate Director, Performance Content (AI)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States; hybrid work with office attendance an average of four days per week

Salary: $75,000–$180,000 USD

What you will do

• Define and scale AI adoption across client content ecosystems and integrate tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, and WPP Open.
• Apply generative engine optimization and LLM retrievability workflows to improve website discoverability in conversational search.
• Lead complex client relationships, own content workstreams, and present search, AI, and performance insights to senior stakeholders.
• Oversee long-form web content, articles, blogs, editorial standards, content audits, and performance gap analysis.
• Manage and coach direct reports while supporting resource planning, scopes of work, estimating, training, and new business initiatives.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in content strategy, SEO, or digital writing, including direct-report management and complex agency accounts.
• Strong familiarity with generative AI tools and enterprise AI platforms; prompt engineering and workflow-agent development are highly preferred.
• Deep knowledge of SEO, accessibility, emerging search trends, and generative engine optimization.
• Master-level writing and editing skills, including AP Style, Grammarly, and content management systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Keynote, Trello, SharePoint, and OneNote.
• Exceptional diplomacy, emotional intelligence, strategic thinking, leadership, and adaptability.
