Director, AML (Fintech)

Location: New York City, with employees required to work in the office 4 days per week.

Salary: $160,000–$215,000 base salary, excluding bonuses and equity.

What you will do

• Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of AML policies, procedures, and controls.
• Conduct and oversee KYC refresh reviews and complex ongoing monitoring alerts, including sanctions, PEP, and adverse media alerts.
• Own complex EDD reviews and conduct SAR investigations, including drafting and reviewing SAR narratives.
• Partner with onboarding, technology, and operations teams to improve AML workflows.
• Advise business lines on customer risk classification and AML program requirements.
• Coordinate AML audits, monitor regulatory developments, and mentor junior AML staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree or JD is a plus.
• 7–10 years of AML compliance, AML audit, or financial crimes experience at a broker-dealer or regulated financial institution.
• Strong knowledge of BSA/AML, KYC, CIP, CDD, EDD, OFAC, and FinCEN requirements for broker-dealer and FCM businesses.
• Experience with SAR investigations, institutional client onboarding, and complex legal entities such as financial institutions and funds.
• Proficiency with onboarding and screening tools such as World-Check and CLEAR.
• Strong analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage complex priorities independently.
