Senior Developer (Java)

TL;DR

Senior Developer (Java): Building and supporting high-performing backend services for banking projects with an accent on microservices, event-driven integration, and reliable data access. Focus on designing scalable Java architectures, solving critical production incidents through an on-call rotation, and ensuring software quality with TDD or BDD.

Location: Remote within the Spain time zone. The role includes a mandatory Monday-to-Sunday on-call rotation for one week every 3–4 months.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain backend services for banking projects.
• Design and implement microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and J2EE.
• Build event-driven integrations with Apache Kafka and work with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Apply software architecture and design patterns, functional programming, and testing practices.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum delivery and collaborate with international teams.
• Join a rotating on-call schedule and resolve critical incidents when required.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of experience in a similar backend development role.
• Advanced expertise in J2EE, Spring Boot, and Apache Kafka.
• Strong knowledge of Java 8+, microservices, JPA, databases, and software design and architecture patterns.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, or similar databases.
• Knowledge of TDD or BDD and familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher and availability for the on-call rotation are required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of API design and specification with OpenAPI 3/OAS3.
• Basic knowledge of reactive programming.
• Additional technical skills that can contribute to the project.
