TL;DR
Sr. Software Developer - Data (Java, Spring Boot): Design and build cloud-first microservices and APIs in Java (Spring Boot) with an accent on high-volume data ingestion, processing, and SQL-based data pipelines. Focus on modernizing legacy systems while ensuring data integrity, performance, and reliable delivery through testing, CI/CD, and Kubernetes deployments.
Location: Portugal (primarily remote; occasional office visits to Coimbra or Aveiro)

What you will do
- Design and develop scalable microservices and APIs using Java and Spring Boot
- Build services for high-volume data ingestion, processing, and access
- Integrate backend services with modern cloud data platforms and legacy systems
- Write and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures for application features and data pipelines
- Ensure data integrity, availability, and performance across systems
- Deploy and manage services in containerized environments using Kubernetes and Helm; participate in CI/CD, code reviews, and architecture discussions
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in backend software engineering or data-focused software development
- Strong Java skills with Spring Boot for microservices development
- Solid understanding of SQL, relational database design, performance tuning, and data modeling
- Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
- Hands-on experience deploying applications on Kubernetes using Helm charts
- Ability to work in a hybrid setup with occasional office visits in Coimbra or Aveiro
Nice to have
- Experience with Snowflake and dbt
- Exposure to AWS, Azure, or GCP and infrastructure-as-code
- Knowledge of messaging/event streaming tools such as Kafka or RabbitMQ
