TL;DR

Mechanical Engineer 3 (NSSS Component Engineering Analysis) (Nuclear Component Engineering/ANSYS): Performing design and stress analyses for pressure vessels, reactor vessel internals, and primary equipment supports with an accent on ASME BPVC Section III compliance, thermal and mechanical loading, and fatigue evaluation. Focus on analyzing nuclear components under seismic and dynamic loads, optimizing designs, and resolving complex technical issues within NQA-1 and NRC-regulated engineering processes.

Location: Remote within the contiguous United States, with national and local travel as required for business needs.

Salary: $108,908–$131,441 annually target range; full range $97,642–$152,722 annually.

What you will do

  • Perform and document ASME Section III evaluations of pressure vessels, reactor vessel internals, and primary equipment supports.
  • Analyze pressure, mechanical, and thermal loadings, including primary stress, primary plus secondary stress intensity ranges, and fatigue.
  • Use ANSYS finite element software and CAD packages to support component design and optimization.
  • Interpret project requirements and coordinate design activities with engineers from other disciplines.
  • Resolve technical problems and maintain required training qualifications.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering, from an ABET-accredited four-year institution.
  • At least 6 years of relevant full-time experience.
  • Experience using ANSYS for stress analysis under ASME Section III, Subsections NB, NG, and/or NF.
  • Eligibility to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810 is required.
  • Ability to meet applicable U.S. nuclear regulatory and quality assurance requirements, including 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and ASME NQA-1.

Nice to have

  • Advanced engineering degree.
  • Professional Engineer certification.
  • Seismic or dynamic analysis experience.
  • Programming experience with ANSYS APDL, MATLAB, or Python.
