Staff Accountant

TL;DR

What you will do

• Prepare financial statements, management reports, account reconciliations, and audit and tax documentation.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll support, and compliance activities for multiple clients.
• Use Sage Intacct, FloQast, QuickBooks Online, and Xero to automate workflows and improve close and reconciliation processes.
• Support client onboarding, Sage Intacct setup, workflow implementation, and day-to-day accounting needs.
• Collaborate with clients, finance, operations, sales, and account management teams to align deliverables and identify process improvements.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations, including improvements to HR and payroll efficiency.

Requirements

• 5+ years of accounting experience as a Staff Accountant or Controller, preferably in outsourced accounting, advisory services, or a CPA firm.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CPA eligibility is preferred. Seven or more years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree.
• Proficiency in Sage Intacct and FloQast is required.
• Experience with multi-entity and multi-currency accounting, payroll, sales tax filings, financial audits, and GAAP compliance.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and client-service skills with a high level of attention to detail.
• Ability to work remotely from Cape Town or Gauteng and travel to the Cape Town office as required.

Nice to have

• Background in SaaS, outsourced accounting, or financial consulting.
• Experience with ERP implementations, financial technology integrations, or client-facing financial advisory work.
• CPA certification or eligibility.
