Lead Software Engineer (Embedded Linux)

Location: Hybrid in Manchester/Salford, England, with three days in the office; occasional minimal travel may be required.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership and guidance on developing commercial applications for Linux.
• Collaborate with the remote Linux platform development team to align platform and application requirements.
• Develop platform architecture and applications for a Debian-based embedded Linux platform.
• Elicit stakeholder requirements and produce software requirements and technical specifications.
• Create and maintain technical documentation using established templates and techniques.
• Monitor emerging technologies and methodologies and work with the Software Test Team to resolve defects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electronics, physics, or another relevant engineering discipline.
• Hands-on experience developing commercial object-oriented applications in a C-like language, ideally C++ or C#.
• Experience developing for embedded Linux systems and strong knowledge of system architecture design.
• Experience developing large applications for resource-constrained embedded platforms.
• Experience using Git version control.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
