Project Management and Engineering Specialist (Aerospace): Coordinating ESA Academy non-orbital platform programmes and supporting university teams through experiment selection, engineering development, testing campaigns, operations, and post-campaign activities with an accent on systems engineering, technical project management, and scientific experimentation. Focus on coordinating multidisciplinary stakeholders, managing technical reviews and risks, supporting sounding rocket, balloon, parabolic flight and laboratory campaigns, and delivering engineering training.
Location: Libin, Belgium, with eligibility to live and work in the EU. Travel within Europe is required for outreach, educational and experiment activities.

What you will do
- Coordinate ESA Academy Experiments, REXUS/BEXUS and related educational programmes across selection, development, testing, campaign and post-project phases.
- Guide university student teams in project management, systems engineering, risk management, experiment development and mission preparation.
- Coordinate stakeholders, mentorship activities, technical reviews, workshops, training events and experiment campaigns.
- Monitor technical, managerial and programme progress, reviewing documentation, requirements, verification activities and compliance.
- Support testing and operational activities at ESA and partner facilities, including sounding rocket, balloon, parabolic flight and laboratory campaigns.
- Maintain programme documentation, reporting, participant data and digital learning content, while supporting partnerships, outreach and community initiatives.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in aerospace, systems, mechanical or electrical engineering, physics, space engineering, robotics, scientific engineering or a related technical discipline.
- At least 4 years of experience in engineering project management, aerospace, scientific experimentation or complex technical projects.
- Hands-on experience with scientific experiments, laboratory testing, hardware development, robotics, sounding rockets, balloons, parabolic flights or similar research activities.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary projects involving universities, student teams, industry and institutional stakeholders.
- Knowledge of systems engineering, requirements management, planning, scheduling, risk management, reporting and technical reviews.
- EU work and residence eligibility required; fluent written and spoken English required.
Nice to have
- Experience with ESA, DLR, SNSA, ESA Academy, REXUS/BEXUS or the European space sector.
- Background in university space projects, STEM education, outreach, mentoring or educational experimentation programmes.
- Familiarity with parabolic flight, sounding rocket or stratospheric balloon campaigns.
