Network Engineer (Telecommunications)

Network Engineer (Telecommunications): Maintaining and restoring the telecommunications infrastructure supporting mobile and fixed services across Queensland, with an accent on transmission networks, critical power systems, HVAC and site safety. Focus on responding to 24/7 critical incidents, commissioning equipment, coordinating field deployments and maintaining service continuity across exchanges, data centres and customer sites.

Location: Rochedale, Queensland, Australia, with travel between exchanges, data centres, CEV, FAN, HUB, mobile and customer sites. The role requires 24/7 shift work, on-call or recall arrangements, out-of-hours incident response and a current driver licence.

What you will do

• Perform routine, preventative, corrective and emergency maintenance across transmission, switching, power, HVAC and enhanced service platform infrastructure.
• Respond onsite to critical incidents and restore network services within required timeframes.
• Monitor and inspect DC power, rectifiers, batteries, UPS systems, generators, HVAC, fire panels and related facility systems.
• Commission equipment, conduct site acceptance and quality audits, and support equipment delivery and deployment.
• Supervise contractors and ensure work complies with safety requirements, approved designs and hirify.global standards.
• Collaborate with network engineering, deployment, facility, vendor and contractor teams while supporting field engineer cadets.

Requirements

• Technical qualification in telecommunications engineering, electrical engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Approximately five years of experience in fixed transmission networks and strong knowledge of network design and technologies.
• Understanding of transmission and digital systems, switching, consumer products, mobile systems, 5G and edge technology.
• Knowledge of critical infrastructure including DC systems, rectifiers, batteries, PDUs, UPS systems, fire systems, HVAC, grounding and DC cabling.
• Strong incident-solving, communication, safety and contractor-management skills.
• Current driver licence, ability to travel between infrastructure locations and availability for 24/7 shifts and on-call or recall work are required.

Nice to have

• Experience in exchanges, data centres or other critical infrastructure environments.
• Experience with Office 365, Helix, SAP, NSM, Tableau, VMR or ServiceNow.
• Engineering degree in telecommunications, IT, OSS or media.
