Senior SAP S/4HANA Plant Maintenance Consultant

Location: Tokyo, Japan; remote work from anywhere in Japan if the client project allows. A temporary office is available in Shinbashi. The role may require travel, and up to 25 days of work from a preferred global location may be possible with client permission.

What you will do

• Act as the primary liaison between business users and SAP functional teams for Plant Maintenance and Technical Asset Management.
• Lead business process mapping and professional fit-gap analysis for Japanese operations, aligned with global standards and SAP PM best practices.
• Conduct workshops and gather requirements from maintenance, engineering, and operations stakeholders.
• Translate business needs into functional specifications and guide implementation teams.
• Support system testing, data validation, cutover, training, and change management for maintenance teams.
• Ensure PM integration, compliance, traceability, and reliability across regulated life sciences operations.

Requirements

• 8+ years of hands-on SAP experience, including deep expertise in SAP PM and WM.
• At least two full-cycle SAP PM implementations and experience with global or regional SAP programs.
• Advanced SAP PM configuration skills covering maintenance plans, task lists, notifications, work orders, measuring points, and breakdown analysis.
• Strong knowledge of maintenance planning, work order management, equipment lifecycle, asset performance, and integration with MM, FI, CO, EHS, and PP.
• Knowledge of GxP compliance and validation requirements in regulated environments.
• Japanese proficiency at JLPT N2 or higher and English proficiency are required. Willingness to travel and work in dynamic project environments is also required.

• Experience in life sciences, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, healthcare, food, or consulting.
• Experience supporting Japanese pharma and life sciences standards.
