Test Software Developer (AI Hardware)

Location: Onsite in Newark, California, United States; occasional travel to other sites and industry events may be required.

Salary: $90,000–$105,000 per year, plus bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks for server and enterprise motherboards.
• Build Python, Bash, and Linux applications interacting with chipsets, BIOS/UEFI, and low-level hardware interfaces.
• Develop repeatable methodologies for DRAM performance, stability, margining, and thermal characterization.
• Configure enterprise server systems for AI inference and high-intensity workload testing.
• Use ipmitool, dmidecode, i2c-tools, and related diagnostics to monitor and troubleshoot hardware.
• Collaborate with Hardware Engineering, Validation, and Manufacturing teams on continuous testing and reusable tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, with typically 3–5 years of relevant experience.
• Practical knowledge of motherboard architecture, chipset behavior, BIOS/UEFI operations, and hardware-software integration.
• Experience developing automated hardware tests for DRAM stress, stability, margining, and thermal characterization.
• Hands-on experience configuring enterprise server hardware for AI inference and workload testing.
• Strong Python and Bash scripting skills, plus Linux low-level hardware management experience with ipmitool, dmidecode, and i2c-tools.
• Strong English verbal and written communication skills are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Cursor or similar AI-assisted development environments.
• Experience with GitLab or GitHub workflows, code reviews, merge or pull requests, and issue tracking.
• Ability to work independently on ambiguous validation requirements and contribute to coding standards and documentation.
