TL;DR

Tactical Development Truck Operator (Autonomous Vehicles): Operating Class 8 trucks equipped with self-driving technology to collect data, execute test missions, and support autonomous vehicle development with an accent on safety-critical driving protocols, mission software, and vehicle systems. Location: Based at hirify.global terminals in the United States, including Aledo, Texas, with frequent domestic travel of up to 90%. The role requires rotating shifts, weekends, nights, overtime, and potential relocation or commuting to available terminals.

Salary: $31.00–$38.50 per hour, plus annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.

What you will do

  • Operate Class 8 trucks on public roads and closed courses while following detailed autonomous vehicle testing protocols.
  • Collect high-quality driving and road-event data for engineering teams using onboard digital tools.
  • Work as part of a two-person operations team, including monitoring mission software and real-time data feeds from the passenger seat.
  • Perform pre-trip inspections, verify sensor calibration, and confirm mission software readiness.
  • Execute basic troubleshooting of software modules, sensors, and vehicle systems with remote engineering support.
  • Represent the company professionally while following DOT, FMCSA, and company safety requirements.

Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and hold a valid U.S. Class A CDL and driver’s license.
  • Must pass DOT physical, medical certification, drug and alcohol testing, and Motor Vehicle Report requirements.
  • At least 3 years of commercial truck-driving experience and minimum age of 25.
  • Mechanical aptitude for basic vehicle-system troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Ability to use laptops, tablets, Google Workspace tools, Jira, and digital mission logs.
  • Ability to work extended over-the-road schedules, travel frequently, lift up to 50 pounds, and operate vehicles in varied weather and traffic conditions.

Nice to have

  • Experience in Agile or Scrum environments.
  • Linux or command-line interface experience.
  • Background in aviation, high-stakes logistics, safety-critical operations, or vehicle development and testing.
  • Experience with high-fidelity mapping tools and procedures.
