Senior Software Development Engineer (AWS)

Location: Remote within the United States; employees may live in any of the 50 states, with limited exceptions.

Salary: $152,900–$244,300 or $160,900–$257,100 annually, depending on location.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate backend services and APIs for self-service cloud capabilities, including account provisioning, networking, IAM, and policy.
• Convert manual cloud operations and runbooks into safe-by-default products, controls, and automation.
• Shape platform interfaces and developer workflows based on internal customer needs, feedback, and usage data.
• Build for observability, SLOs, reliability, and self-healing, while participating in on-call and follow-up improvements.
• Use AI-assisted and agentic tooling to accelerate design, implementation, and operations while maintaining quality and safety.
• Influence public cloud enablement strategy and collaborate with platform, database, middleware, delivery, and security engineering teams.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States; remote employees may work from any of the 50 states, with limited exceptions.
• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating backend or platform services in production.
• Strong distributed systems, API design, testing, debugging, resiliency, and observability skills.
• Production experience with Golang or Python, or another modern programming language.
• Deep experience with a public cloud provider, preferably AWS, including networking, IAM, compute, storage, and security primitives.
• Experience with Terraform, cloud security fundamentals, and CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure or backend services.

Nice to have

• Experience building internal platforms, developer tooling, golden paths, or self-service provisioning systems.
• Experience treating an internal platform as a product and improving developer experience through adoption data.
• Familiarity with service networking, service mesh, workload identity, rate limiting, Linux systems, and networking fundamentals.
