Associate Research Fellow (Metabolic Disease)

Location: United States – Massachusetts – Cambridge; hybrid role requiring residence within commuting distance and on-site work an average of 2.5 days per week.

Annual base salary: $162,900–$271,500. Eligible for a 20% bonus target and share-based long-term incentive program.

What you will do

• Shape discovery research strategy and scientific direction across multiple obesity and metabolic disease programs.
• Identify, prioritize, validate, and advance therapeutic targets using mechanistic biology and translational insights.
• Design and oversee rigorous in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro studies, including experimental design, data interpretation, and presentation.
• Integrate biomarker strategy, translational feasibility, portfolio impact, and preclinical-to-clinical insights into research priorities.
• Lead lab heads and scientists through supervision, coaching, mentorship, and capability building.
• Align multidisciplinary partners, represent research strategy to leadership, and build collaborations with academic and external experts.

Requirements

• PhD, MD, or MD/PhD with postdoctoral research experience and 12+ years of experience leading research groups and supervising scientists.
• Deep expertise in metabolism and/or signaling pathways relevant to obesity, including CNS neurocircuitry or peripheral metabolism.
• Experience leading in vitro, in vivo, and ex vivo experiments relevant to metabolic disease biology.
• Demonstrated scientific achievement through high-impact publications, presentations, and recognized contributions to the scientific community.
• Ability to influence multidisciplinary teams, develop scientific talent, manage multiple projects, and communicate strategy to scientific and leadership audiences.
• Permanent U.S. work authorization and authorization to work in the U.S. by any employer are required.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with the pathophysiology of dysmetabolic states.
