TL;DR

Nuclear Commissioning Engineer (Commissioning Capability): Developing and implementing commissioning processes, tools, and guidance for complex nuclear-sector programmes with an accent on detailed-design integration, SQEP principles, and regulatory compliance. Focus on embedding commissioning best practices, supporting multidisciplinary design teams, and managing export control and DOE 810 nationality restrictions in a regulated environment.

Location: Hybrid role based in the United Kingdom, with 1–2 days per week onsite in Derby, Manchester, or Warrington. BPSS clearance is required.

What you will do

  • Lead the commissioning capability function for complex nuclear-sector projects.
  • Establish and maintain commissioning rules, tools, methods, and assessment processes.
  • Work with detailed-design teams to embed commissioning best practices and provide constructive guidance.
  • Apply SQEP principles to commissioning oversight and guidance.
  • Improve commissioning processes and support large, complex programmes in a regulated environment.
  • Ensure compliance with export control and DOE 810 nationality restrictions.

Requirements

  • 5–10 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Commissioning experience in nuclear, oil and gas, pharmaceutical, or another heavily regulated industry.
  • Experience establishing commissioning processes during the detailed design stage and delivering complex programmes.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, or equivalent military experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Baseline Personnel Security Standard clearance and meet applicable export-control and nationality requirements.
