Social Media Intern (Politics)

Location: Remote. An office in Washington, D.C. is available for candidates who are in the area. Part-time schedule of 15–20 hours per week, approximately September 8 through December 18, 2026, with flexible hours arranged around classes and other commitments.

What you will do

• Schedule and publish daily reporting, newsletters, podcasts, and videos across five social platforms.
• Create platform-native quote cards, carousels, stories, and short clips from editorial and podcast content.
• Review podcast and video episodes, identify strong moments, and produce clips for social distribution.
• Monitor comments, direct messages, and replies; surface audience questions and participate in relevant Reddit communities.
• Track weekly platform metrics, explain performance, and share insights with the editorial and growth teams.
• Propose three to five new content, format, or platform ideas each week.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, or a recent graduate.
• At least one year of experience running social media for an organization or project beyond a personal account.
• Strong understanding of how X, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and Reddit operate and what content performs on each.
• Ability to identify compelling quotes, clips, and story angles, with genuine interest in politics and policy.
• Basic comfort with graphic design or video editing tools, or the ability to learn them quickly.
• Ability to work independently and respond quickly when news breaks.
