Senior AI Governance Specialist (Automotive): Establishing and executing the AI governance framework for vehicle motion software with an accent on automotive safety standards and compliance. Focus on integrating ISO 26262 and ISO 8800 into the software development lifecycle and qualifying AI-powered tools for safety-critical workflows.

Location: Hybrid (Milford, Michigan). Must report to office at least three days a week (Tues, Wed, Thurs).

What you will do

• Derive and maintain AI governance frameworks based on ISO 26262, ISO 8800, and SOTIF.
• Classify AI elements and tools, distinguishing between in-product AI and off-line development AI.
• Lead tool confidence level (TCL) determination and qualification for AI tools used in safety-critical workflows.
• Implement AI lifecycle controls, including data governance, model verification, and operational guardrails.
• Generate audit-ready safety case evidence and tool qualification reports.
• Serve as the subject matter expert and lead the AI Community of Practice on governance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, Systems, or Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in embedded controls or software safety for automotive or aerospace.
• Knowledge of ISO 26262 and ISO/PAS 8800, including their interaction for AI/ML components.
• Understanding of ISO 21448 (SOTIF) principles.
• Knowledge of ASIL (A–D) determination and functional safety documentation.
• Experience with ML concepts: supervised learning, model validation, and robustness evaluation.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in a relevant engineering field.
• 8+ years of experience in safety-critical systems.
• Certification in ISO 26262 and ISO 8800.
• Familiarity with ISO/IEC 42001 and ISO/IEC TR 5469.
• Experience with AI-assisted development toolchains in automotive contexts.
