Technical Sound Designer (Gamedev)

Location: Studio based in San Mateo, California, United States (flexible working support provided)

Salary: $30.47 - $56.35 Hourly

What you will do

• Perform real-time audio-control scripting and audio asset implementation.
• Collaborate with audio programmers and sound designers to develop audio systems based on creative vision and gameplay needs.
• Apply studio and departmental best practices for technical audio workflows.
• Create interactive and linear sound effects design.
• Foster teamwork and collaboration across the Audio Department and other studio locations.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of experience in game audio development with at least one major shipped title.
• Proficiency in Lua, Python, or visual scripting (e.g., Blueprints).
• Fluency in game audio implementation systems and major digital audio workstations (DAWs).
• Understanding of PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC audio functionality and limitations.
• Strong knowledge of technical audio theory and audio engineering.
• Must be based in or be able to relocate to San Mateo, California.

Nice to have

• Experience with C++ or C#.
• Experience in FPS or multiplayer game development.
• Advanced degree or professional certificate in programming or audio engineering.
