Описание вакансии
TL;DR
Senior Operations Research Engineer (AI): Developing and productionizing mixed-integer optimization models for task assignment and complex business rules with an accent on mathematical formulation, solver performance, and scalable AI services. Focus on tuning FICO Xpress models, diagnosing infeasibility and data-quality issues, and building Java and Python tools that visualize and deploy optimization solutions.
Location: Hybrid role in Fort Worth, Texas, United States
Salary: $75.00–$80.00 per hour
Company
provides contract technology professionals and supports enterprise software and AI initiatives.
What you will do
- Formulate, maintain, validate, and benchmark mixed-integer programming models for task assignment and complex operational rules.
- Translate business requirements into mathematical constraints and collaborate with planners, business analysts, product teams, and IT partners.
- Implement optimization models in Java through the FICO Xpress API while maintaining a solver-agnostic abstraction for portability and testability.
- Tune solvers using gap settings, threads, random seeds, determinism, branch-and-bound analysis, solver logs, and LP files.
- Analyze Azure ADLS datasets and solver outputs to identify data-quality issues, infeasibility causes, modeling bugs, and root causes.
- Build and maintain Python Streamlit dashboards and support the deployment of scalable AI and machine learning solutions.
Requirements
- Senior-level experience with mixed-integer programming, LP/IP theory, linear constraints, branch-and-bound, and applied optimization.
- At least 3 years of applied optimization or equivalent demonstrated MIP experience; the broader description also requests 7–9 years of software development lifecycle experience with large-scale machine learning applications in production.
- Professional Java and Python development experience, including the ability to ship changes in both languages.
- Experience with a commercial optimization solver; FICO Xpress is strongly preferred, with Gurobi, CPLEX, OR-Tools, or Hexaly also considered.
- MS or PhD in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science with an optimization focus, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement in Fort Worth, Texas.
Nice to have
- Java 21, Spring Boot, clean or hexagonal architecture, TDD, and JUnit 5.
- Experience with LP-file integration tests, scheduling, assignment, routing, heuristics, metaheuristics, or constraint programming.
- Azure ADLS, SQL, CSV/Excel data wrangling, MongoDB Compass, Maven, Docker, Git, and GitHub.
- Aviation or MRO domain experience.
- Experience using Claude, Copilot, or similar AI coding agents.
Culture & Benefits
- Collaborative environment with OR, analytics, engineering, product, and IT stakeholders.
- Emphasis on high coding standards, feedback, testability, correctness, and production quality.
- Full-time consultants may receive medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) benefits.
- PTO, sick leave, and other benefits may apply according to applicable state or local requirements.
