Operations Research Analyst, Mission Engineering

TL;DR

Operations Research Analyst, Mission Engineering (Defense Modeling and Simulation): Designing, executing, and validating mission-level models and simulations for defense, national security, and commercial programs with an accent on statistical analysis, system effectiveness assessment, and operationally relevant scenarios. Location: Onsite in Washington, District of Columbia, United States; eligibility to obtain a TS/SCI clearance is required.

Salary: $175,000–$225,000 base compensation, excluding bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Scope, plan, and execute modeling and simulation studies aligned with program objectives.
• Develop and run mission-level and engagement-level simulations using tools such as AFSIM, ESAMS, Brawler, Ansys STK, and physics-based models.
• Build, refine, implement, and validate models of sensors, communications systems, weapons, aircraft, spacecraft, and ground or maritime platforms.
• Apply rigorous statistical methods to quantify measures of effectiveness and system performance across operational scenarios.
• Develop Python-based data processing, statistical analysis, and visualization tools and pipelines.
• Document methodologies and findings, brief technical and non-technical stakeholders, and partner with engineering, product, growth, and customer teams on analytical studies and business pursuits.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, engineering, data science, statistics, mathematics, operations research, physics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience supporting defense, intelligence, or advanced technology programs.
• Direct experience leading mission-level operations analysis studies and using combat simulations such as AFSIM, ESAMS, Brawler, Ansys STK, or equivalent.
• Strong proficiency in Python and MATLAB, scientific computing libraries, statistical methods, data visualization, Linux, scalable scripting, and software development practices.
• Experience leading analytical efforts independently and briefing senior engineering, customer, flag/general officer, or SES-level audiences.
• Must be eligible to obtain a Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information clearance.

Nice to have

• Active TS/SCI clearance.
• Expertise across the full kill chain, sensor and radar performance analysis, and multi-domain engagements.
• Experience with Monte Carlo and design-of-experiments simulation campaigns, model accreditation, verification and validation, or threat-informed scenario development.
• Experience with DIS networking, MAK VR-Forces, SIMDIS, or similar visualization tools.
• Experience supporting DoD, DARPA, ONR, AFRL, COCOM, acquisition, or commercial advanced technology programs and capture activities.
