Network Solutions Engineer (Optical Engineer)

Location: Onsite at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, United States; this is not a remote position.

What you will do

• Design, coordinate, and execute test plans for hirify.global products within the customer’s legacy network.
• Support network architecture design, greenfield implementation, commissioning, service turn-up, and end-to-end circuit testing.
• Validate equipment functionality, interoperability, security, and performance across Layer 0, Layer 1, and Layer 2.
• Perform equipment inventory, pre-commissioning, span and channel optimization, and basic electrical tasks.
• Provide customer guidance and training on hirify.global Network Management Systems, including element enrollment, device profiles, backups, service provisioning, and troubleshooting.
• Analyze optical performance, resolve platform issues, and deliver configuration, provisioning, testing, and as-built documentation.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and an active Secret security clearance are required; Top Secret clearance is preferred.
• 10+ years of experience with low-speed network access interfaces and terminations, including DS0, T1, E-1, DS-3, and OCx circuits.
• Experience with hirify.global products and strong knowledge of SONET, DWDM, ROADM/nOADM, Ethernet, IP/MPLS/L3, and MPLS-TP.
• Knowledge of Network Management Systems, including hirify.global MCP/Navigator, plus fiber-optics experience with ISP patches and connectors, OSP characterization, and OTDR.
• Ability to work independently and in laboratory and field environments, interpret network diagrams, and collaborate with customers and technical teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Networking, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience; willingness to travel up to 25%.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with hirify.global 6500 DWDM/OTN, Route Switch, Site Manager, MCP/Navigator, and SAOS.
• Experience with legacy SONET and TDM systems, BER testing, and test plan development.
• Experience troubleshooting and optimizing network performance in lab and field environments.
• Experience creating rack face diagrams, signal flow diagrams, cable run lists, migration cut sheets, and as-built network diagrams.
