Controller – Real Estate

TL;DR

Controller – Real Estate (Fund Accounting/US GAAP): Overseeing accounting, financial reporting, treasury, audits, tax coordination, and third-party administration for real estate investment funds with an accent on technical accounting, valuation, NAV close, and operational controls. Focus on applying complex US GAAP guidance, improving fund operating models, and aligning administrators, auditors, investors, and investment teams.

Location: Dallas, Texas, with at least four full days per week working in an hirify.global office

What you will do

• Oversee third-party fund administrators and service providers, ensuring accurate, timely reporting, effective controls, pricing discipline, and continuous process improvement.
• Act as the primary business contact for accounting, NAV close, allocations, valuation, audits, performance reporting, treasury, and financial reporting.
• Coordinate process changes and system initiatives to improve the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting data.
• Work with fund operations, property managers, investors, portfolio managers, auditors, clients, and investment teams.
• Lead, mentor, and develop internal teams while managing escalations and operating model effectiveness.

Requirements

• CPA certification required.
• At least 10 years of progressive experience in fund finance, fund operations management, fund accounting oversight, or a related finance field, including significant real estate experience.
• Experience managing complex fund operations, administrator oversight, investor and performance reporting, liquidity, balance sheet management, treasury coordination, controls, and strategic business support.
• Strong technical accounting expertise with deep knowledge of US GAAP and its application to real estate fund structures, transactions, and financial reporting.
• Strong leadership, judgment, communication, technical finance, and stakeholder management skills.
• Must work from the Dallas office at least four full days per week under the current workplace model.
