Software Generalists (Fullstack)

TL;DR

Software Generalists (Fullstack) (Python/TypeScript/Vue): Building and evolving customer-focused software across Prolific’s human data infrastructure with an accent on product engineering, distributed systems, and reliable cloud applications. Focus on translating complex customer problems into scalable solutions, supporting production systems, and making fast technical decisions across shared codebases.

Location: Hybrid, based in the New York office with approximately 1–2 days per week in person. Regular collaboration is required with customers and the US team, alongside UK-based technology teams.

Salary: $200,000–$250,000 USD per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Build product and customer solutions across Prolific’s domains with high ownership and a product mindset.
• Translate customer and business problems into software models and practical technical solutions.
• Collaborate with account managers, customer success specialists, and customers to understand problem spaces.
• Develop across shared codebases using frontend, backend, cloud, and distributed-system technologies.
• Support production applications, monitor system health, and respond to incidents when required.

Requirements

• Senior-level product engineering experience with more than 4 years in a relevant role.
• Experience working with both monolithic and distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of modern web applications and architecture patterns.
• Experience supporting production systems and making trade-offs between rapid delivery and long-term reliability.
• Strong communication skills for direct customer interaction and cross-functional collaboration.
• Experience with technologies including Python, TypeScript or JavaScript, Vue, SQL or NoSQL databases, cloud platforms, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and observability tools.

Nice to have

• Experience with Django, FastAPI, Django REST Framework, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Celery, EventBridge, GCP, AWS, CircleCI, GitHub Actions, or Datadog.
• Experience working with frontier AI companies or enterprise AI applications.
