OTC Trader (Crypto)

Location: Remote within South Africa, with conditions listed as Cape Town or Johannesburg

What you will do

• Price, quote, source counter-trades, and execute large OTC trades for institutions, corporates, and professional traders.
• Build long-term client relationships with country teams and relationship managers while managing working capital and credit facilities.
• Manage trade disputes, settlements, market risk, revenue liquidation trades, and the desk’s P&L against targets and risk limits.
• Develop trading strategies across crypto and FX, including OTC trading, hedging, and future derivatives, arbitrage, and warehousing activities.
• Analyze digital asset markets, regulatory developments, news, and flows, and provide regular market and performance reporting.
• Improve trading and risk systems, support automation, and pressure-test risk frameworks and models.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of trading experience in a sell-side OTC desk, market maker, proprietary trading desk, or brokerage.
• Experience in crypto, FX, equities, or derivatives, with P&L responsibility for trades and counter-trades within defined size, position, and working-capital limits.
• A successful broking or OTC trading track record across more than one market.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related discipline.
• Strong attention to detail, accurate trade execution and documentation, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Commitment to regulatory compliance, ethical trading practices, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Derivatives arbitrage knowledge or experience.
• Advanced degree or professional qualification such as CFA, CAIA, or MBA.
• Passion for crypto and ambition to progress toward broader market ownership and trading leadership.
