Staff Partner Engineer (AI)

Location: New York City, NY or San Francisco, CA

Salary: $150,200 — $206,450 USD

What you will do

• Serve as the primary technical point of contact for strategic AI labs to drive joint innovation.
• Collaborate with technical executives to shape joint product roadmaps and translate partner capabilities into platform requirements.
• Design and build integrations that connect and extend Databricks and partner platforms.
• Develop POCs and reference architectures for engineering teams to productize or customers to deploy.
• Align strategic customers' AI architecture needs with joint product roadmaps.
• Create technical field enablement content to articulate 'better together' value propositions.

Requirements

• 10+ years in field engineering, consulting, platform architecture, or AI systems development.
• Deep expertise in production AI systems: model serving, inference, retrieval, and agent frameworks.
• Hands-on engineering skills with Python, REST APIs, and SDKs.
• Proven experience in strategic technical partnerships and navigating multi-company engineering initiatives.
• Strong communication skills to influence and present to engineering teams and executives.
• Availability to travel globally to partner sites, conferences, and events as required.

Nice to have

• Experience as a Partner Solutions Architect or Alliance Engineer at AI companies or cloud providers.
• Experience scaling AI systems in production, including evaluation, cost tuning, and governance.
• Background working with frontier labs or AI-native cloud providers.
• Track record of creating developer-facing technical content like deployment guides and blog posts.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, and Codex.
