Senior Software Engineer (Gaming Backend)

Location: Must be based in the US, Canada, or Mexico City (Remote for US/CA, Hybrid for Mexico City)

Salary: $145,000 - $220,000 USD

What you will do

• Design and evolve backend systems to power core gameplay and large-scale live-service operations.
• Lead incident management, reliability hardening, and operational readiness for production systems.
• Drive the technical roadmap for backend initiatives to ensure scalable, high-performance architecture.
• Collaborate with game client engineers (Unity/C#) to deliver integrated fullstack features.
• Act as a technical multiplier by mentoring cross-functional teams and facilitating design discussions.
• Identify and mitigate technical debt to improve overall team velocity and code maintainability.

Requirements

• Must be based in the US, Canada, or Mexico City.
• 6+ years of professional software development experience in gaming or large-scale live-service applications.
• Deep expertise in backend engineering with high-level server-side languages and frameworks.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS or equivalent) and modern CI/CD practices.
• Proven track record of designing scalable systems and managing live-service operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Experience working with content pipelines and performance optimization.
• Domain knowledge in player-facing features such as progression, social systems, live events, and monetization.
