Salary: $306,000 – $360,000 (base)

What you will do

• Drive the multi-year vision and technical strategy for the AI platform, covering retrieval, agent context, and model serving.
• Own cost-per-execution metrics, optimizing model selection, caching, and prompt efficiency to protect margins.
• Establish AI evaluation frameworks, regression prevention, and performance standards.
• Lead, mentor, and recruit engineering managers and their teams across San Francisco and New York City.
• Define the model portfolio strategy, balancing frontier and open-weight models to prevent vendor lock-in.
• Partner with product, GTM, and finance leaders to align platform investments with business performance.

Requirements

• 12+ years of software engineering experience with 5+ years of engineering leadership.
• 2+ years of experience managing engineering managers and building organizational structures.
• Deep expertise in serving architectures, inference providers, agentic frameworks, and RAG.
• Proven track record of optimizing infrastructure costs and unit economics at scale.
• Must be based in San Francisco to adhere to the office-centric hybrid schedule.
