Senior Software Engineer, Software Platform (Kubernetes/AWS)

Location: Hybrid in San Jose, California; on-site three days per week. Access to export-controlled information requires U.S. person status, eligibility for access without export authorization, or eligibility and reasonable likelihood of obtaining the required authorization.

Salary: $184,000–$208,000 annually, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, build, and evolve scalable, resilient, and reliable platform systems.
• Develop end-to-end platform capabilities across the stack and with cross-functional teams.
• Contribute to architectural decisions for core systems.
• Identify and resolve production bottlenecks, performance issues, and systemic risks.
• Translate business and product needs into technical solutions.
• Own features from concept through deployment and ongoing operation, including code reviews and technical knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• 8+ years of production software engineering experience with strong proficiency in Python, C++, or Rust.
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems, backend services, or platform development.
• Hands-on depth in Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS, and cloud-native infrastructure.
• Experience operating mission-critical services with uptime, reliability, and performance requirements.
• Strong debugging, profiling, code optimization, mentoring, and technical leadership skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with real-time data processing pipelines or high-throughput systems.
• Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, or automated deployment workflows.
• Open-source contributions or technical writing and knowledge-sharing experience.
• Comfort working with engineers, operators, and domain specialists in an interdisciplinary environment.
