Staff Backend Engineer (AI)

hirify.global is developing a new large-scale visual moderation product with the independence of a startup and the backing of an established company.

What you will do

• Design, build, and evolve the backend of a visual moderation platform handling large volumes of images and videos.
• Develop high-throughput asynchronous pipelines, multi-tenant systems, and cost-sensitive ML workloads.
• Build agentic moderation workflows and AI-driven decision systems.
• Make architectural decisions and own the full development lifecycle from product direction through operation.
• Establish practices for testing, observability, reliability, security, and maintainability.
• Balance latency, cost, operational complexity, and long-term architecture while delivering iteratively.

Requirements

• 10+ years of backend engineering experience owning and delivering production systems.
• Strong hands-on coding skills and deep backend expertise; Python is used in the stack.
• Experience building and operating cloud-based systems, preferably on AWS.
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems, asynchronous processing, queues, workflows, and production monitoring.
• Ability to work independently in a low-process environment, handle ambiguity, and collaborate with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders.
• Must be based in Israel.
