What you will do

• Lead and develop a team of 4–8 AI-native engineers through coaching, performance support, and execution guidance.
• Connect engineering priorities to customer outcomes and product roadmap goals.
• Set standards for coding-agent workflows, context engineering, evaluation practices, and continuous delivery.
• Contribute hands-on through design reviews, code reviews, bug fixes, and small feature development.
• Own quality, reliability, on-call health, postmortems, and the build-and-run feedback loop.
• Partner with Talent Acquisition to hire and close high-caliber engineering candidates.

Requirements

• Experience managing high-performing engineering teams of comparable scope in complex, fast-moving environments.
• Hands-on fluency with AI coding agents and experience shipping substantial AI-native work.
• Strong product judgment and ability to reason from customer and business outcomes.
• Technical depth in backend systems, APIs, and distributed systems, with meaningful ongoing codebase contributions.
• Strong hiring experience, including personally closing high-quality engineers.
• Ability to work from the Sydney office 3 days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with React, Vue, TypeScript, Express, Node, Python, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, AWS, Vercel, Terraform, or Kubernetes.
• Experience using tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex.
