Manager, Software Engineering (Android/AOSP)

Location: Hybrid in San Mateo, California, United States

Salary: $201,400–$302,000 USD base pay, with potential bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and grow an experienced software engineering team through coaching, performance management, hiring, and talent development.
• Drive performance, stability, scalability, reliability, and operational excellence for the hirify.global Portal AOSP platform.
• Design telemetry, logging, observability, monitoring, dashboards, and analytics pipelines that provide actionable platform insights.
• Partner with Quality Engineering and integrate automated testing, benchmarking, regression detection, and quality gates into CI/CD workflows.
• Collaborate with Security, Infrastructure, Platform, Product, and leadership teams on risk mitigation, platform hardening, and operational visibility.
• Lead technical initiatives from requirements and architecture through launch, live operation, risk management, and post-launch support.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of experience in interactive entertainment, Android applications, SDKs, frameworks, mobile development, computer graphics, or related technologies.
• Experience managing software engineering teams delivering large-scale platform, system software, mobile, or consumer products.
• Strong Android/AOSP architecture knowledge and proficiency with Java, Kotlin, and Android Studio.
• Experience with performance optimization, stability analysis, reliability engineering, production debugging, telemetry, observability, CI/CD, and automated testing infrastructure.
• Strong people leadership, project management, Agile delivery, technical communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with consumer electronics, gaming, handheld devices, or embedded systems.
• Background in platform security, security engineering, security architecture, or platform hardening.
• Experience with metrics platforms, dashboards, cloud analytics pipelines, distributed systems, or large-scale data processing.
• Familiarity with benchmarking, SRE, reliability engineering, and operational excellence practices.
• Experience with React, React Native, Angular, internal engineering portals, or developer productivity tools.
